ACAI

Acai berries are a rich dark purple colour due to their abundance of antioxidant flavonoids. Acai berries boast one of the highest antioxidant levels of all known fruits and vegetables making them one of the highest antioxidant sources in the world. Acai berries are full of dietary fibre, amino acids and beneficial fatty acids, all of which are a vital part of a balanced diet.

ALFALFA

Alfalfa is naturally high in many essential vitamins and minerals including all B vitamins, biotin, calcium, folic acid, iron, magnesium, potassium and many others. When dried (like it is in THE SUPER ELIXIR) it is also very high in protein. It has also had a direct connection to lowering cholesterol, Alfalfa is great for detox and has historically been used to help flush the bowels of toxins. It has been linked to lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, supports immune function and joint health.

APPLE

Apples are filled with vitamins, minerals and trace nutrients including A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, C and K. They are a good source of soluble and insoluble fibre with a regular sized apple (skin on) supplying 20% of our daily requirement of dietary fibre. Apples are wonderful for detox and have an anti-inflammatory effect on the body and eating apples regularly has been linked to reduced risk of heart disease and cancer.

APPLE PECTIN

Apples are a high source of pectin, which is a type of fibre that is found in all plant cells and tissues. Studies have shown the regular intake of apple pectin can regulate the digestive system and improve bowel movement and balance acidity in the large intestine, with the potential to provide temporary relief from the discomforts of ulcers and colitis. In addition to the above, research confirms that regular consumption can reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol levels as it acts as an antioxidant against the damaging portion of cholesterol in the blood stream. Apple pectin can aid in maintaining healthy blood sugar levels and remove nasty toxins from the colon, effectively promoting colonic health by cleansing the intestinal tract.

BARLEY GRASS

Our barley grass is harvested from 100% sweet young green shoots of barley before they form grain kernels, making them gluten free. It is a nutritious natural food renowned for its alkalizing and antioxidant properties while being a rich source of chlorophyll, vitamins, minerals and amino acids.While barley grass has many of the same nutrients as other leafy green vegetables like spinach, barley grass actually offers these nutrients in a more concentrated package meaning that small servings of barley grass pack a whole lot of nutrition.

BEETROOT

Beetroot (beta vulgaris) is widely considered to be a super food because it is naturally high in dietary nitrate, silicic acids, flavonoids, carotenoids (particularly lutein and zeaxanthin), soluble fibre, antioxidants (anthocyanadins) and bioavailable vitamins and minerals.

BETA-CAROTENE

Beta-carotene is a red/orange pigment found in plants and fruits, especially carrots and other colourful vegetables. The human body converts beta-carotene into vitamin A (retinol) which is vital for healthy skin and mucus membranes, our immune system, and good eye health and vision. Beta-carotene has been shown to protect against macular degeneration and senile cataracts. Beta-carotene, like all carotenoids, is an antioxidant. An antioxidant is a substance that inhibits the oxidation of other molecules; it protects the body from free radicals which assists in anti-ageing. Free radicals damage cells through oxidation which can contribute in the development of several chronic illnesses.

BROCCOLI

The health benefits of broccoli are very extensive. It contains high levels of fibre (both soluble and insoluble) and is a rich source of vitamin C with only 100g of broccoli providing more than 150% of your recommended daily intake of vitamin C, known for its ability to help shorten a bought of the common cold. Broccoli is also rich in vitamin A, iron, vitamin K, B-complex vitamins, zinc, phosphorus and phyto-nutrients.

CALCIUM

Calcium is crucial in maintaining bone health and dental health throughout our lives. In our infant days, calcium is required for proper bone and tooth growth; during growth spurts in adolescence, and helping to maintain bone density as we get older. Calcium forms 2% of total body weight in a human adult with it not only being found in our bones but also in the circulatory system where it can help prevent life threatening hemorrhages.

CARROT

Carrots are well known for their eye health properties. They are rich in beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the liver. Vitamin A is transformed in the retina, to rhodopsin, a purple pigment necessary for night vision. Studies have shown carrots reduce the risk of lung cancer, breast cancer and colon cancer due containing newly discovered falcarinol and falcarindiol. Falcarinol is a natural pesticide produced by the carrot that protects its roots from fungal diseases. Similarly, herbalists have been known to use carrot to prevent infections by applying it directly to cuts.

COPPER CITRATE

Copper is a mineral that occurs naturally in many foods, including vegetables, legumes, nuts, grains, and fruits, as well as shellfish, avocado and beef. Because copper is found in the earth's crust, most of the world's surface water and ground water used for drinking purposes contain small amounts of copper.Copper is involved in numerous biochemical reactions in our cells. A component of multiple enzymes, it is involved with the regulation of gene expression, mitochondrial function/cellular metabolism, connective tissue formation, as well as the absorption, storage, and metabolism of iron.

DANDELION LEAVES EXTRACT

Dandelion Leaf (Taraxacum officinale) offers a number of benefits for the liver and gallbladder. A natural diuretic, Dandelion Leaf is commonly used to help remove excess water and toxins from the body. Dandelion Leaf helps promote bile excretion from the liver so the body can more efficiently process foods and liquids while also purging harmful toxins. In addition, improved bile flow makes it possible for the body to better metabolize fat, which helps optimize the body’s cholesterol levels. GOJI BERRY

Green tea is a product made from the Camellia sinensis plant. GRAPE SEED EXTRACT

Grape seed extract is a powerful antioxidant, antiallergenic, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory. Grape seed extract has immune boosting properties and it can be instrumental in helping the body fight viruses, allergens, and carcinogens. Similar to the alfalfa plant, Horsetail is capable of absorbing unique minerals from the earth like Silica which are not found in many other plants. With silica being one of the most effective minerals for hair, skin and nails, horsetail also is widely used for these benefits with fast acting results.

KELP

Kelps are seaweeds that grow in particular shallow and nutrient-rich waters around the world.

Glutamine is one of the 20 amino acids or “building blocks” of protein. It is a vital molecule that our body stores in the bloodstream and converts into glucose (blood sugar) when it is needed. L-Glutamine, the natural form of glutamine, is critical for a number of biological processes. It is also one of the few amino acids that directly cross the blood-brain barrier - a separation of circulating blood and the brain extracellular fluid in the central nervous system. L-Glutamine is an important nutrient required for intestinal tissue and muscle repair, recuperation, gut wall integrity and the immune system. Glutamine plays a role in a variety of critical biochemical functions and is one of the few amino acids that directly cross the blood-brain barrier.

LINSEED MEAL

The tiny flax seed is mighty in nutrients! It is not technically a grain, however it has a similar vitamin and mineral profile to a grain, although they are a better source of fibre, antioxidants, and Omega-3 fatty acids. PSYLLIUM HUSK

Psyllium husk comes from the fibre part of the seed of the plantago plant. It is high in soluble fibre, called mucilage, and when consumed, it absorbs water and becomes bulky. Psyllium husk then activates peristaltic action in the intestines and helps to clean the colon and eliminate anything that has been stagnating there. It can pull toxins out of the bowel pockets known as diverticuli.Psyllium husks promote a healthy bowel function, unlike laxatives which when used regularly can cause dependence and a lazy bowel. This is why it is highly recommended for use when constipated. Although psyllium husks contain only a small amount of insoluble fibre, it is not easily broken down by the enzymes in the stomach and therefore it moves into the colon like insoluble fibre. 

SELENIUM CHELATE

Selenium is an antioxidant that is present in all human cells, and it's essential for the maintenance of a healthy body. This naturally-occurring substance is mostly found in the liver, kidney, testes, pancreas and spleen. It helps to limit the activities of free radicals, which are harmful to the body and accelerate ageing. Selenium promotes the release of an enzyme called glutathione peroxidise, which can eliminate peroxides that destroy essential lipids.

Shiitake mushrooms are well known for their immune support but more recently studies have shown results involving support of the cardiovascular system have caught the attention of many researchers. In particular, recent studies have shown the ability of shiitake mushrooms to help protect us against cardiovascular diseases (including atherosclerosis) by preventing too much immune cell binding to the lining of our blood vessels. In order for immune cells and other materials to bind onto our blood vessel linings, certain protein molecules—called adhesion molecules—must be produced and sent into action. By helping to block the adhesion molecule production process, substances in shiitake mushrooms can help protect our blood vessels.

People take slippery elm for coughs, sore throat, colic, diarrhea, constipation, hemorrhoids, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bladder and urinary tract infections, syphilis, herpes, and for expelling tapeworms. It is also used for protecting against stomach and duodenal ulcers, for colitis, diverticulitis, GI inflammation, and too much stomach acid.

SPINACH

Dark leafy greens like spinach are important for skin and hair, bone health, and provide protein, iron, vitamins and minerals. The possible health benefits of consuming spinach include improving blood glucose control in diabetics, lowering the risk of cancer lowering blood pressure and improving bone health. One cup of raw spinach contains 27 calories, 0.86 grams of protein, 30 milligrams of calcium 0.81 grams of iron, 24 milligrams of magnesium, 167 milligrams of potassium, 2813 IUs of Vitamin A and 58 micrograms of folate. Spinach is an excellent source of magnesium, which is necessary for energy metabolism, maintaining muscle and nerve function, heart rhythm, a healthy immune system and maintaining blood pressure.

SPIRULINA

Spirulina is a potent, nutrient dense super food that is derived from a single-celled blue-green alga grown in temperate waters around the world. It is considered a whole food due to its rich source of proteins, vitamins, minerals and other healing phytonutrients, such as numerous active plant pigments. Spirulina grows only in alkaline waters and is considered to be alkalizing for the body.
